My dad, Matt Kangas, left working at a warehouse in 1987 and began selling Life Insurance. Throughout the next decade he expanded into health insurance and securities. Growing up in his house, I can still hear him on the phone reassuring clients through the dot com crash.
I worked in his back office, scanning applications and creating databases while I attended Portland State University.
Later on, in 2015, I asked if I could take over his business. He welcomed the idea and told me to get a Series 7 and Series 65 license - requirements to advise on investments professionally. In 2017 I bought his business.
It has been an educational journey ever since. I have had the privilege of helping many people become millionaires, settling old friend's estates, and helping young people start building their wealth.
Matt nor myself have never had a violation or complaint. Combined, we represent more than 40 years of personal financial service. In many cases we have served distinct family groups for decades and through generations. I believe it is a combination of our performance and personal service that has made this possible.

Columbia Wealth Advisors is an independent registered investment advisor with clients in Idaho, Oregon, Washington, California, Nevada, and Florida.
We manage investment accounts including but not limited to brokerages, IRAs, ROTHs, 401ks, 403bs, 529 plans, and we also sell insurance. For investment accounts, we use Trade PMR and Wells Fargo Clearing Services. Trade PMR is owned by Robinhood and focuses on serving personal advisory services like ours.
There is a small transactional cost to buying and selling investments which generally represents less than 0.05% of an account value.
Columbia Wealth Advisors LLC charges an annualized fee that ranges 1.5% to less than 1% of account value.
